The PS4 and Xbox One are also set to get the new Rockstar Editor, streamlined for consoles and offering a few new bells and whistles which will also appear on the PC as well.
However, all these new features are not coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3, with Rockstar pretty much drawing a line under last-gen overhauls.
It's mostly composed of small tweaks to "pave the road to Rise of Iron," according to the post. After that date, players will no longer be able to share character progress between console generations.
In a statement provided to Kotaku UK, Rockstar said it knew eventually the “technical capacity of what the older generation of consoles can handle” would max out, and no longer be able to handle such significant updates.
“We have continued to optimize the entire game over time in order to squeeze as much memory as we possibly could out of the last-generation hardware and at some point, continuing to add content for those systems could cause the risk of instability to the game overall,” said the firm.
